Our Debut at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show: Lickity Split’s Big Bloom
Lickity Split made its official debut at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show this year — and what an unforgettable experience it was. After years of visiting as garden lovers, 2025 marked our first time stepping behind the counter as exhibitors. And the response? Absolutely overwhelming (in the best way!).
We Weren’t Sure What to Expect…
This was our first time introducing our range of stylish garden wear to the public in person — and all we could do was hope people would love what we’ve been creating. Thankfully, they did. We heard “Oh, isn’t it gorgeous!” more times than we could count.
It was such a joy to see visitors smile as they passed our pastel-filled stall. Even those who didn’t stop to shop would often pause, soften, and enjoy the moment. For those who did step in, it was often the pockets in our women’s gardening overalls that sparked the biggest reactions. Practical *and* pretty — exactly what we set out to create.
Growers Avenue Was a Dream
While we spent most of the show chatting, serving, and soaking up the joy, we did manage to sneak a quiet stroll through Growers Avenue during bump-in on the final day — and it was breathtaking. The passion, care, and colour from each grower was next-level. We’ll be sharing a video of it soon, so stay tuned!
Heartfelt Conversations and Hilarious Moments
More than anything, what we loved was the connection. We met incredible people — gardeners, makers, mums, creatives — and heard the most beautiful stories. People told us they couldn’t wait to get into the garden simply because they had a new apron or pair of overalls that made them feel good. That’s the magic we’re chasing.
There were funny moments too — like our late-night soft serve break, where someone told us we looked like we were “dissociating in pastels” (tired? Yes. Happy? Also yes). Or the mum trying to leave the show with her toddler who spotted our stall and *had* to come in. We’re sorry… and also not sorry at all 💕
Learning, Growing, and What’s Next
We walked away from the show with invaluable feedback, new ideas, and even a few conversations with potential retailers. And yes — our POS system failed once (classic!), but even then, everyone was kind and patient. As my dad always says: garden people are good people. And he’s right.
Thank You for the Love
We’re still buzzing from the experience, and we can’t thank you enough for the love and support. Whether you stopped by our stall, made a purchase, shared a story, or simply smiled as you passed, you’ve helped make this milestone one we’ll never forget.
We’re already dreaming up what’s next for Lickity Split garden wear — and we’re so glad to have you on this journey with us.
With full hearts and muddy boots,
Alyce (& the Lickity Split team)
